Dave's Personal Site - Download Problems?

Are you having trouble downloading files from this site?

Google/Chrome and perhaps other browsers sometimes block downloads from this site, claiming they are "malicious".

I assure you this is not the case. It does not happen on all my computers, but does on some of them. You can check all my download files with my DDFC program (available here).

I asked the guy who gives me the web space, and he says he is missing a certificate that Google/Chrome wants to see on the site, and gets this all the time. I also think it may have something to do with the fact that I compress some of my executables with UPX which is in itself not malware but often used to hide malware. It's entirely possible that Google/Chrome thinks a UPX signature is bad news. (You can easily uncompress genuine UPX packed programs.

I have found a way to bypass this. In Chrome, click the Chrome menu near the top right corner, select "Settings" to bring up the settings screen and then click "Show advanced settings..." which is a little tab at the bottom.

This will add some settings options. Under "Privacy" uncheck the box "Protect you and your device from dangerous sites".

After that you should be able to download my files. You may want to turn it back on after you have done so.
